Fleet Feet Bike Training is a road cycling training program designed to prepare beginner to advanced cyclists for 40, 70 or 100 miles rides at the 2017 Tulsa Tough Saturday Fondo.

Goal Race: Tulsa Tough Piccolo (40 miles), Medio (70 miles) or Gran Fondos (100 miles). Program registration does not include Tulsa Tough registration.

Official Start: Sunday March 26th at 10:00am at Fleet Feet Blue Blue Dome

Cost: $90 includes coached Wednesday evening ride, coached and sag-supported Sunday morning ride, tech tee, eleven weeks of coaching by experienced cyclists, weekly emails and training schedule, bike-handling and maintenance clinics, special offer on custom cycling jersey and shorts. Early registrants receive access to an exclusive 4-week spin class offered at St. John Siegfried Health Club. Class will be at 3pm for four Sundays: February 12th, February 19th, February 26th and March 5th. Participants also receive an invitation to our VIP Tulsa Tough watch party on Friday, June 9th 2017 at Fleet Feet Blue Dome. You'll have a front row seat to the start/finish line of the McNellie's Group Blue Dome Criterium.

Who Should Join? Beginner to advanced cyclists who would like to improve their cycling skills and fitness in a supportive group environment. We have had beginner participants in past years successfully ride their first 40 mile group ride and had more advanced riders complete back-to-back 100 mile Gran Fondo rides as a result of our training. Please note that this is NOT training for Tulsa Tough "crit" racing.

Pace Groups: Beginners need to be able to maintain a 10-12 mph average and be prepared to ride on open roads. Multiple pace groups available for average speeds of 10-12 to 18+ mph. Beginner groups are "no-drop" but participants must be able to cover the distances required (starting with 15 miles) to train for a multi-hour event in June. We will use your own assessment of your ability and our first ride to establish appropriate pace groups (D:10-12 mph avg., C: 12-14 mph avg., B: 14-16 mph avg., A: 16-18+ mph avg).

Equipment Requirements: We require that you have a suitable bike, helmet and cycling-specific red flashing light for the back of your bike for all rides. It is highly recommended you also have a white, front-facing light, especially for Wednesday rides which can stretch past sunset. It is highly recommended that you have a standard road bike with drop bars. If you have a hybrid (flat bar) bike you will struggle with the longer distances, speed and hills. If you have a triathlon/time-trial style bike you may not ride on the aero bars while riding in a group.  No mountain bikes, BMX, trikes or fat tires allowed. We also recommend you have a small repair kit (extra tube, CO2 or pump, multi-tool) in addition to carrying your cell phone, ID and a credit card or cash at all times.

Ride Locations: The majority of the riding will be on roads, not bike paths,  all originating at Fleet Feet Sports Blue Dome in Downtown Tulsa. Since the goal event, Tulsa Tough, is held on Tulsa-area roads open to traffic we will train on open roads. We will sometimes use bike paths, where practical, to connect segments of rides but at least half of every ride will be on open roads. We will practice safe group riding habits and encourage all participants to have a red, flashing tallight running at all times.

Fleet Feet Bike Training meets Wednesdays at 5:45pm and Sundays at 10:00am from Fleet Feet Blue Dome. These start times are your "clip-in" times which means we will be rolling out at this time - plan to arrive 15 minutes early to prepare your bike and yourself to ride and for pre-ride announcements. Start time for Sunday ride may be subject to change due to weather and will likely shift to 9:00am later in the program. All rides are held weather-permitting. We will cancel or delay rides in case of severe weather or unsuitable road conditions.
