Fleet Feet Bike Training is a road cycling training program designed to prepare intermediate to advanced cyclists for 60, 75 or 100 miles rides at one of three goal events: Hotter’n Hell Hundred 8/26/2017, Dam Jam Bicycle Tour 9/9/2017, Fall Century 9/23/2017

Goal Events: Hotter’n Hell 8/26/2017 in Wichita Falls, Texas; Dam Jam 9/9/2017 in Pryor, Oklahoma; Tulsa Bicycle Club Fall Century 9/23/2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Program registration does not include registration for these events. Fleet Feet Sports Tulsa | Broken Arrow is not affiliated with these events and not involved in the management or production of these events.

Official Start: Sunday, 7/2/2017 at 8:00am at Fleet Feet Blue Blue Dome. Last Ride: Sunday 9/17/2017

Cost: $59 includes Sunday coached and sag-supported ride, unique lifestyle tee, discount on custom Pactimo cycling kit, full training schedule, weekly emails with information and encouragement from coaches. 2-3 clinics covering nutrition, ride preparedness and bicycle maintenance, access to a private Facebook group for training participants for community support and updates.

Who Should Join? Intermediate to advanced cyclists who would like to improve their cycling skills and fitness in a supportive group environment. Please note that this is NOT training for "crit" racing. Participants in this long-distance program should be riding currently, having completed at least the Piccolo event at Tulsa Tough or comparable length training ride recently.

Pace Groups: Participants should be prepared for a 30 mile open road ride to start the program. New program participants need to be able to maintain a 12 mph average and be prepared to ride on open roads. Multiple pace groups available for average speeds of 12 to 18+ mph. Beginner groups are "no-drop" but participants must be able to cover the distances required (starting with 30 miles) to train for a multi-hour event. We will use your own assessment of your ability and our first ride to establish appropriate pace groups (D:12-13+ mph avg., C2 13-14mph avg., C1: 14-15mph avg., B: 15-16 mph avg., A: 16-18+ mph avg). Coached and sag-supported rides on Sundays (excluding Sunday 8/27), program includes 10 Sunday rides total. Full week training schedule will be provided. Wednesday night ride is not coached, but there are several options including no-drop for 25-35 mile midweek rides.

Equipment Requirements: We require that you have a suitable bike, helmet and cycling-specific red flashing light for the back of your bike for all rides. It is highly recommended you also have a white, front-facing light, especially for Wednesday rides which can stretch past sunset. It is highly recommended that you have a standard road bike with drop bars. If you have a hybrid (flat bar) bike you will struggle with the longer distances, speed and hills. If you have a triathlon/time-trial style bike you may not ride on the aero bars while riding in a group.  No mountain bikes, BMX, trikes or fat tires allowed. We also recommend you have a small repair kit (extra tube, CO2 or pump, multi-tool) in addition to carrying your cell phone, ID and a credit card or cash at all times.

Ride Locations: The majority of the riding will be on roads, not bike paths,  all originating at Fleet Feet Sports Blue Dome in Downtown Tulsa. Since the goal events are held on roads open to traffic we will train on open roads. We will sometimes use bike paths, where practical, to connect segments of rides but at least half of every ride will be on open roads. We will practice safe group riding habits and encourage all participants to have a red, flashing taillight running at all times.

Fleet Feet Bike Training Sundays at 8:00am from Fleet Feet Blue Dome. This is your "clip-in" times which means we will be rolling out at this time - plan to arrive 15 minutes early to prepare your bike and yourself to ride and for pre-ride announcements. Start time for Sunday ride may be subject to change due to weather. All rides are held weather-permitting. We will cancel or delay rides in case of severe weather or unsuitable road conditions.
