On March 17, everyone's Irish and T-Town will be doused in green.
What began with St. Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland has become an American celebration of Irish heritage and culture. For many of us, that means a yearly dose of corned beef and cabbage washed down with a pint (or two) of good old Irish Ale.
Fleet Feet's Blue Dome location will be smack in the center of St. Paddy's day action downtown, with enough events planned by area businesses to keep you busy from morning to the wee small hours.
Arnie's Bar will host its annual St. Patrick's Day party with outdoor food, beverages and live music starting at 11 am. The best food trucks in Tulsa, Andolini's, The Dog House, Lone Wolf and others will be available, as well as beer and other libations. The event is open to all ages until 8 pm, at which point, the theme turns to 21 and over. Arnie's, as well as the other locations, will not charge a cover.
If you walk further on down toward the East Village, the Fur Shop starts its day with a little local activism. They will donate 10% of all beer purchases to localok.org, a group determined to change alcohol laws in Oklahoma. If that's your bag, head over there and grab a cold one. Later in the evening, The Fur Shop will host a stand up comedy event, and then a late night dance party. Get your chairs early for the comedy as the room fills up fast.
Plan to stop outside Legends to dance with a dj and to grab some more food truck provisions, then wend your way northward toward McNellie's for a continuation of the street party vibe. Both McNellie's locations will open at 10 am, but the Blue Dome restaurant will be their St. Patrick's day hub. McNellie's will serve Boulevard Irish Ale for $3.50 and a Marshall Brewing draft trailer will offer extensive, local brew options. If you're still standing by then, loop back around toward The Max for a few grooves with dj Speedbump and a two buck green beer to keep you in the shamrock mood.
Last and certainly not least, and perhaps, dare we say it, the crux of your St. Patrick's celebration, is Fleet Feet's St. Patrick's Day Fun Run & Walk. Wear a costume if you are into that sort of thing, and join us at the store at 6. We'll set off for a jaunt through downtown Tulsa. Along the way, you can check out the options listed above and hang out with your Fleet Feet Crew. Back at the store, have a beer and some snacks on us. Remember to bring your wallet and ID, to be mindful of street closings and to be safe. We like you too much! Help us plan for enough food and drink by RSVPing here.
