How to wrap empowerment

Retail stores and media outlets across the country are producing Holiday Gift Guides for their customers and readers. While we do have a gift guide for runners/walkers (available in both our stores now!) we want to tell you about a gift that will fit everyone – it’s the gift of empowerment, of health and of long-lasting fitness.
How do you wrap empowerment? In a nice little gift certificate, of course.
We have opened registration for our spring training programs, and gift certificates are available for the holidays. Most importantly, if you purchase a training program for a holiday gift, you save big! Registration is only $75 through Dec. 31, but increases to $89 on Jan. 1.
Fleet Feet offers training programs for every possible skill level. Walking and running programs are available that include goal races from the 5K all the way up to a half marathon or marathon. Is your loved one a real couch potato? Then get them a gift certificate for our new Walk Fit Training Program where the only requirement is that you want to get moving. Our training programs change lives! More than 7,000 Oklahomans have graduated from these programs, and have improved their lives for the long haul.
More reasons that these programs are great gifts? They are local, home-grown and not made in China. Additionally, the price is cheaper than a gym membership and you receive a special tech shirt with each training program. You get a built-in support system and camaraderie from those in your group. When was the last time your treadmill gave you a high-five? Finally, it’s some of the best “me” time you could give a busy spouse, parent or family member.

Now, let’s be clear. There are good ways and bad ways to give a gift like this. Here are some helpful hints of what not to do:
“Honey, I’ve noticed that you’ve kept your Thanksgiving bloat for more than a month now. Why not lose those calories with a training program?” (VETO)
“Sympathy weight gain for a husband married to a pregnant woman is not real! You need to run – Merry Christmas Sweetheart!” (Hormones might excuse this a bit, but still not a good idea.)
“Just because you bought the entire football package on cable does not give you the excuse to watch every game and leave a permanent impression on the couch. Here’s a training program for you.” (Surely there’s time to watch football and run or walk.)
We all want to wish you the best this holiday season. But while you are watching football, consider giving the gift of health, fitness, friendship and more. In the meantime, we’ll leave you with a few testimonials from those who have participated in No Boundaries, Pathways, and our marathon/half marathon training programs.
“In 2005, I weighed 325 pounds and was a physical mess. After six months of walking, I started running. I’ve now finished seven marathons. Fleet Feet’s training worked for me and it can work for you.
- Jack (now a No Boundaries coach)
“Yes this is a great way to start getting fit but it is the first step to changing your life for the better. The running community is truly a big family and everyone you meet will encourage you and help you grow not just a runner but as a well-rounded person. The friendships I have made will last a lifetime.”
- Tascina
“Thank you for this amazing program. I am not exaggerating when I say it has changed my life. I have accomplished far more than I thought I would, and discovered a passion for running that will last a lifetime. I ran my first half marathon Sunday, and this is just the beginning for me!”
- Tanya
“I never realized how much work it is to do a walk but it is a great rewarding experience! I think it’s just a great program to get involved with and especially if you’re not sure if you want to try the running yet. Walking provides a great avenue to get started.” – Amber
