Miles of Resolution

Happy 2012 to all of our customers, family, friends and training buddies!  We hope you had a great holiday season and are looking forward to the new year with as much anticipation as we are.

As usual, the turning of the calendar brings various tasks for all of us.  Some of us clear the clutter, some try and forget the past and move forward, and finally, some of us resolve.  Ah, the dreaded New Year’s Resolution.  What started as such a grand idea – use the fresh year to improve some aspect of your life – is now a cliché that can have terribly negative connotations.

We want to make resolutions positive again.  We don’t know how many people include “fitness” or “weight loss” or “better health” in their resolutions, but we’re willing to bet 20 pairs of shoes that it’s a substantial amount.  You’ve seen some tips in the media over the past few days about how to succeed in your goals: 1) set attainable goals, 2) take it one step at a time, and 3) track your progress as inspiration to keep going.

We couldn’t agree more.

Even better, we can help.

If you are resolving to improve your health, start running, or lose weight this year, our training programs are a perfect solution.  Our programs, with an option for every skill level, help you set a reachable goal and give you every tool you need to get there.  Your very first goal race should probably not be a marathon.  We believe in you, but we are also here to show you how to take the steps you need to reach your small and ultimate goals!

In fact, more than 85 percent of Fleet Feet training participants achieve their goal.  You can’t find these success rates just anywhere.  Wouldn’t you like to join a training program that makes it easier and more enjoyable to exercise and achieve your goal?   Our coaches provide all the information and expertise you need (and even some of the motivation) to run your first 5K or improve your half marathon time.

Additionally, our training programs expand your circle of friends by creating new “fitness friends,” which are incredibly important in maintaining your exercise routine.  These guys and girls make it fun to work out.  They take your mind off your task if you are having a bad day.  They make you laugh and call you to make sure you are coming and help keep you accountable.  A Fleet Feet training program is more than just a workout, it’s a social event, which means it’s also reducing your stress and making you happier!

Plus, in our programs, you also get a tech shirt.  Admit it, when is the last time a gym gave you anything?

Regardless of what you’ve resolved for this year, good luck.  Even to those of you with secret resolutions and aren’t admitting you made them – good luck.  Happy New Year!
